Peter Robinson was born in Ashburton, New Zealand in 1966, and lives and works in Auckland. He is currently Associate Professor at the Elam School of Fine Arts, National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries, The University of Auckland. He has held artist residencies in Aachen, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Sydney; and guest lectureships in the United States, Sweden and Denmark.
Recent significant solo exhibitions include “Ack” Artspace, Auckland, New Zealand 2006, “Snow Ball Blind Time” Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand 2008, Polymer Monolith 1, Artspace, Sydney, Australia, 2009 and Polymer Monoliths, Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, Australia, 2009. Robinson’s work has also been included in 8th Baltic Triennial of International Art, Vilnius; and Iconoclash at ZKM Centre for Art and Media, Karlsruhe in 2002; Bi-polar: Jacqueline Fraser, Peter Robinson, 49th Venice Biennale, New Zealand Pavilion in 2001; Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2000; Biennale of Sydney in 1998; 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in 1997; and Steirischer Herbst 96: Inklusion-Exklusion, Künstlerhaus, Graz, Second Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Brisbane and Bienal de São Paulo all in 1996.
