Leaf to Leopard, A Practical Guide to John Ruskin's The Elements of Drawing, By Stephen Farthing

The University of Auckland was one of the first overseas institutions to engage in academic exchanges with the Centre for Drawing. During the summer term 2007 Stephen Farthing was appointed as the Hood Fellow to the University of Auckland . During his tenure he gave a public lecture “ The Bigger Picture Of Drawing” at the Gus Fischer Gallery and exhibited a series of drawings that told the story of John Ruskin’s Elements of Drawing. These drawings are now a part of the University of Aucklands Collection. To co- inside with this residency the University of Auckland published From Leaf To Leopard, an Essay interrogates explains John Ruskin’s Elements of Drawing.

In January 2010 Peter Robinson will become the first Hood Fellow to be hosted by the Centre for Drawing. During his residency Peter will be completing sculptural work associated with drawing in the Project Space at Wimbledon College of Art.
